JALALPUR PIRWALA: Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Saturday said that he accepts the Supreme Court (SC)’s decision to disqualify Nawaz Sharif for life, but the nation will announce its verdict in favour of the former premier in general elections 2018.
“The other day, the SC disqualified Nawaz Sharif for life. We accept that too. But in July, the nation will announce its verdict in favour of Nawaz Sharif. The fate of Pakistan will always be decided by the public,” PM Abbasi said while speaking to a ceremony in Jalalpur Pirwala.
Lauding the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government’s performance, PM Abbasi said that the previous governments initiated projects but failed to take them to their successful conclusion.
The PML-N government, he added, initiated and completed the projects as well as took over the pending projects and guaranteed completion.
Referring to ex-PML-N lawmakers who quit party and put forward demands of a separate South Punjab province, PM Abbasi said that “matters are not resolved if you change loyalties one and a half months before elections.”
He added that a single party can not execute constitutional amendments and that the matter of a separate province in Punjab would only be solved via input from all parties.
