ISLAMABAD: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) has approved a 30-day physical remand of former Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Malir Rao Anwar in the Naqeebullah murder case.
Anwar was presented before the court amid tight security. During the in-camera hearing of the case, the investigation officer pleaded the court allow a 30-day saying the accused cant be brought to the court frequently due to security reasons.
The court approved the request and handed over Anwar to the Sindh police on a 30-day physical remand.
Anwar will remain in Sindh police custody until the next hearing.
Anwar is the prime accused in the extrajudicial killing of 27-year-old Naqeebullah Mehsud and three others who were killed in a fake police encounter in Karachi on January 13.
The accused, after absconding in the case since late January, was arrested on Wednesday in Islamabad on the orders of the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar.
