ISLAMABAD: Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Monday declared 2,700 polling stations sensitive.
While briefing the Interim Prime Minister (PM) Justice (r) Nasirul Mulk, the commission briefed over the possible plans that an sabotage the election process.
ECP recommended that the caretaker government sets up monitoring centres in all four provinces with the assistance of security agencies.
The commission requested the interim setup to install CCTV cameras on sensitive polls as well as consider provision of air support for transportation of ballot papers to the polling stations.
Earlier the commission had decided to extend the duration of the polling time by an hour to ensure that maximum voters participate in the upcoming general elections.
According to the commission’s revised timings, the polls will be held from 8am to 6pm, a total of 10 uninterrupted hours.
As per sources, the duration of the polling time has been extended for the first time in the electoral history of Pakistan.
The general elections are scheduled to be held on July 25.
