ISLAMABAD: While reiterating the resolve to weed out terrorism, the political and military leadership of the country on Friday agreed on stepping up operation against terrorists and their facilitators.
A meeting was held on the law order situation in the country under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to review in detail overall internal and external security situation, operation Zarb-e-Azb, targeted operation in Karachi and ongoing operations against the terrorists across the country. The meeting was attended by army chief General Raheel Sharif, Interior Minister Nisar Ali Khan, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, Special Assistant to PM Tariq Fatimi, ISI Director General (DG) Lt Gen Rizwan Akhtar and other senior officers.
The participants of the meeting expressed satisfaction over the outcome of operation Zarb-e-Azb, Karachi operation and ongoing operation against the terrorists and their facilitators all over the country. The political and military leadership denounced in strong terms the attack on government employees’ bus in Peshawar. The leadership said that no leniency would be shown to the terrorists and their facilitators and the country would be turned into a “cradle of peace” at every cost. Addressing the meeting, PM Nawaz Sharif said operation Zarb-e-Azb is yielding positive results. Infrastructure of the terrorists has been dismantled and their network has been destroyed due to the operation.
“Elimination of terrorists is national resolve. We will wipe out terrorists from every corner of the country. War against terrorism will be taken to its logic end at every cost,” Nawaz said, adding that the people are happy over Karachi operation and the atmosphere of fear has been changed.
